To the right of this paragraph is a picture that represents the Liverpool Town Hall. This is the place were Liverpool’s 99 elected members or councillors are supposed to make decisions, but this practice has now been changed. Did you know that there are now only ten councillors, known as executive members, and a hand full of conniving senior council officers making all the decisions. This means that 89 of the remaining councillors are now only Town Hall Lobby fodder. Do you think that this present arrangement is democratic? I don’t.
I'm no fool; I know what I'm up against. I know what I am doing probably won't amount to a hill of beans, but what else can a person who is concerned about the poor and the socially excluded do? I don't want to go to my grave as a timid little moderate who never did anything to try and change society for the better.
It is hoped that we will be able to shame Merseyside's incompetent careerist leaders into handing over the power of decision making to our community leaders. It is intended that as time goes by we will be able to show and provide evidence about how City Hall tries to manipulate communities so that council officers and certain elected members can, by using stealth, impose their hidden agendas onto unsuspecting communities. Of course the probability is that nothing will change, but we live in hope. Better to have hope than no hope at all.
You can be sure that the "Whistle Blower" will be watching City Hall and reporting back to you when they are up to their manipulating tricks!
